“The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time.” ~ James Taylor
Far too many people assume in order for introverts to enjoy more of life they have to be more like an extrovert or they just have to put themselves out there. But the fact of the reality is, introverts enjoy life as well – we just do it differently.
Here are 8 easy ways introverts can enjoy their life more:
1. Spend Time on Yourself
No one person is perfect, we all make mistakes – some bigger than others. So, why not spend time on yourself and make yourself better. I’m sure you can think of a few areas you want to get better at and focus on getting better. Over time you will get better at that one thing – just don’t expect it to happen overnight.
2. Get Yourself Some R&R
Carve out some regular time for some rest and relaxation. As introverts we really need to recharge our batteries, and more so after a day of draining activities surrounded by people. Just find a way to get yourself some R&R and in a way that makes you most comfortable and happy at the same time.
3. Turn Off the Noise
Things like the news, negative people, or extreme extroverts can be overwhelming. To enjoy more of your life, you need to turn all of that noise off. Reduce or eliminate the time you spend in any of these areas, especially if you’re serious about enjoying “your” life.
4. Plug-in to People and Things you Like
Think of a few people or things that bring you great joy and plug-in to them. Spend time with those certain people or that “special” thing.
5. Meet Likeminded People
Join a community of likeminded people such as the Hungry Introvert on Facebook. It’s important for your own wellbeing to make time to consistently do this on a regular basis. You’ll feel so much better when you’re spending time with likeminded people who aspire for more in life – their behaviors will become contagious.
6. Be a Dora the Explorer
Seek out new and different places. Yes, they can still be in your preferred small group like settings or on your own, but look for a new restaurant to try, vacation spot you wanted to visit, or go on a nature walk. I find any of these things puts me out there a bit plus it makes me feel like an adventurist when I do something new. 🙂
7. Create a Dream Board
Get yourself a white foam board, your favorite pile of magazines (things you like), glue, and scissors. Go through each of your magazines and dream. As you find anything that resonates with you and makes you feel better, cut it out and paste it on your board. When you’re done filling up your board, put it in an area where you will see it often.
8. Spend Money on Yourself
There’s a lot to be said after you buy that special something you have longed for. Save up some money, and go out there and get it. When you do get it, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment.
